Challenge: How might we create a new experience for nomadic people in 2050?

Year: 2018
Experimental project at CEDIM

Challenge:
Nomad vs. Sedentary: What makes a person currently nomadic or sedentary? Is it voluntary or involuntary? What objects do today’s nomads carry with them? Why? Are there objects that are nomadic or sedentary?
Understand the reason why people move, capturing emotions and behaviors, and generate a link to facilitate the connection between them without the need to be sedentary.
Process:
During the research process, I found the concept "Hobos", who were homeless people who drew signs based on chalk or charcoal on the ground or walls and served to warn other Hobos what was happening in that area. It happened in 1929.

Interviews & Persona profiles:
I interview 2-3 people in each profile to get to know their way of living, their desires, goals, and feelings.

Interconnected Insights:
By the research data, I analyzed every interview and interconnected the secondary research to get insights:

01.

02.

Scenario:
By 2050, the population will double, causing great social inequality due to the wide gap between rich and poor, there will be a lot of population aging in developed countries. We will live in a world where demographic and economic needs and the effects of environmental changes lead to an inexorable increase in the number of migrants, causing a massive global phenomenon; with more than 400 million migrants, says the World Organization for Migration (IOM), without a significant improvement in basic living conditions and without prospects of living a life that respects human dignity due to the lack of resources.

Solution:
Object that by means of a tactile interface through a warm material allows the distribution of information about places where migrants share code signals according to their personal experiences with what creates a secret community, safe and protective of people who seek a dignified life.
